This chawan was hand-formed in Bizen during my stay in the region, then fired for 7 days in Taiga Mori's noborigama kiln.
Its simple, generous shape fully reveals the material. The grog present in the clay used in the workshop creates numerous irregularities on the surface and gives the piece its raw character.
During firing, a veil of ash settled on the piece, softening the contours and creating subtle variations in hue on the surface.
With its balanced proportions and natural feel, this chawan is particularly well-suited for daily matcha preparation and tasting.

Expertise
Atelier Tadaima
Tadaima is a project dedicated to Japanese handcrafted ceramics and everyday objects.
Born from several trips to Japan, the project stems from a curiosity for ceramics, and more specifically for the chawan, whose presence in daily Japanese life gradually led me towards tea, matcha, and the world surrounding them.
