Tadaima Workshop

Tadaima is a project dedicated to Japanese handcrafted ceramics and everyday objects.

Born from several trips to Japan, the project stems from a curiosity for ceramics, and more specifically for the chawan, whose presence in daily Japanese life gradually led me towards tea, matcha, and the world surrounding them.

My journey

Upon returning to France, I undertook professional ceramic training at the Figula workshop in Montpellier, under the guidance of Ophélie. I then continued my practice for nearly a year to better understand the material and the techniques required to create a piece.

I then chose to move to Japan for a year to deepen my knowledge of the country, improve my Japanese, and meet ceramists from whom I could learn.

In Bizen, I worked alongside Taiga Mori for a month, before returning to his workshop later in the year. I also met his father, Atsuo Mori, as well as Eito Shinozaki.

Finally, I returned to Bizen to join the Bizen Tougei Center for a month, where I deepened my throwing practice, particularly focusing on shapes and proportions.

The project

It was through these experiences and encounters that Tadaima gradually took shape.

The project offers a selection of pieces made by Japanese artisans, chosen for their quality, uniqueness, and utility. Each piece is selected directly from the workshops visited in Japan.

I also craft some pieces for Tadaima, continuing my practice and what I learned from the artisans.

Through Tadaima, I hope to introduce these objects, as well as the expertise and people behind their creation.
