This guinomi was wheel-thrown by Taiga Mori in his studio in Bizen. Its low and wide-open form is accentuated by several horizontal ridges that add rhythm to the wall.

The dark surface reveals deep nuances, while the interior shows lighter, irregular effects from wood firing.

Traditionally used for sake, its generous size is also suitable for tasting Japanese teas.

Expertise

Taiga Mori

Taiga Mori is a ceramic artist in Bizen and represents the third generation of his family to practice ceramics.

In his workshop, he perpetuates an ancient family tradition while developing a practice open to international influences and exchanges. He works with both functional ceramics and sculptural pieces, notably using the family noborigama kiln, Furraigama, which he took over in 2000.
