This small guinomi was thrown on a Bizen potter's wheel during my stay in the region, then fired for seven days in Taiga Mori's noborigama kiln.

Small and relatively low, the grog in the clay used at the studio creates many irregularities on the surface and gives the piece its raw, tactile appearance.

Wood firing then reveals the nuances of the clay and softens some of its rough edges. Its small size makes it particularly pleasant to hold and suitable for enjoying tea or sake.

  • Origin: Bizen, Okayama — Japan
  • Technique: Wheel-thrown
  • Firing: Wood — Taiga Mori's noborigama kiln
  • Usage: Tea / Sake
  • Dimensions: approx. Ø 7.5 × H 4 cm
  • Hand wash with a sponge.
  • Avoid thermal shock and sudden temperature changes.
  • Let dry completely before storing the item.
  • Dishwasher and microwave use should be avoided.

Expertise

Atelier Tadaima

Tadaima is a project dedicated to Japanese handcrafted ceramics and everyday objects.

Born from several trips to Japan, the project stems from a curiosity for ceramics, and more specifically for the chawan, whose presence in daily Japanese life gradually led me towards tea, matcha, and the world surrounding them.
